Aria

This woman’s body
Is scarred all over
With wounds of fear and
Of forgetfulness.
Her breath
Smells of old love, of
Jagged unrequited fantasies.
She lived hidden from
Painful reality –
The meanness and irony
Of Truth.
Her eternal companion
Is The Sun, silent but
Listening, always listening.
Though she bathes in her
Own stench of no hope, no promise,
It receives her with no malice.
She whispers, “Take me please…”,
Her plea lingering in the air.
In one swift second, her
Frail body crumbles to the ground,
And one moment her tortured vessel
Becomes dust, freely
Floating. She is Everywhere.
She is free to dream and be dreamed of.
