It Ain’t Easy Bein’ A Christmas Grump

To tell you the most honest truth
Bein’ grumpy ain’t that easy,
To spread bad gossip ‘bout The Main Man’s birth
Can make one sort of queasy.

Imagine havin’ to contort one’s face
To match one’s cranky mood,
To ruin everybody’s cheer in case
Bulldozin’ festive yards’ no good.

Bashin’ Santa and his reindeer,
Pokin’ fun at yuletide jingles,
Makin’ little kiddies squirm in fear
Gives one amazin’ tingles.

Though scroogin’ is one’s favorite hobby,
Sometimes it can make one ponder
If deckin’ the halls with boughs of holly
Is really that much better.

One wonders if it’s more sensible
To spend the holidays with pals and family,
Yeah okay, it could be possible
That togetherness trumps bein’ sad and lonely.

Hangin’ Christmas decor and carol singin’
‘stead of boo-in’ Santa and ridiculin’ rhymes,
No “bah humbug” and words a-stinkin’
Can mean much happier times.

“It ain’t easy bein’ a Christmas grump,” says my quote
I’m givin’ it up, just so we’re clear,
So instead of endin’ with a sour note
Here’s to an awesome Christmas, and a better brand-new Year!
